WeOU 1.0.1

Iphone

Requires iOS 3.0 or later

If you've ever taken a trip with friends, shared a vacation, or had a dinner party, you know it can be tough to figure out Who Owes What to Whom. No more — WeOU will figure it out for you.

With WeOU, you enter how much each person has contributed, then tap the Reconcile button. WeOU then tells you how much each person owes, and to whom. It's simple, yet extremely powerful.

Also included is a tip calculator, for use at shared meals. Tap in the amount of the bill, the number of people, and whether the service was good or great, and WeOU tells you how much each person should contribute to the total tab.

Why WeOU?

To demonstrate why we created WeOU, here's a story.

The Smith family, Mr. and Mrs. and little Bobby, are sharing a beach house for a few days with the Joneses, a family of four.

WeOU screenshot WeOU screenshot Luckily, Mrs. Smith is an iPhone user and she installed WeOU before starting the trip. She launches WeOU and taps the plus button to add a new Event. She names it "Beach Trip".

WeOU screenshot After tapping on the Beach Trip event, she again taps on the plus button to add her family to the event, specifying that she has three people in her family.

WeOU screenshot WeOU screenshot She taps the plus button again, to add the Jones family. Because her friends, the Joneses, are in her address book, she uses the plus contact button to choose the Jones family from her address book.

WeOU screenshot WeOU screenshot Mrs. Smith forgot to indicate that the Joneses are a family of four, so she taps the plus button. She then corrects the number of people in the Jones party.

WeOU screenshot WeOU screenshot The Smiths brought some food to share during the stay at the beach house, so Mrs. Smith puts that into WeOU. She taps on the The Smiths, then taps on the plus button to add a receipt for the food. She enters the amount, $115.20, and selects "Groceries" as the type of the expense.

WeOU screenshot WeOU screenshot The Smiths also bought a set of sand toys. While she could use the Miscellaneous category for this receipt, she decides to create a Toys category, since Mrs. Jones is planning on bringing some board games to play in the evenings. Mrs. Smith taps the Add Category button, and adds "Toys". She adds the receipt for the sand toys.

WeOU screenshot During the beach trip, Mrs. Smith keeps track of the expenditures of her family and that of the Joneses. The Joneses paid for the rental of the beach house, but The Smiths have picked up the tab for a dinner out and some other expenses.

When she makes an error, she deletes the bad info by simply swiping her finger across an item in the list.

WeOU screenshot At the end of the trip, it's time to figure out who owes what to whom, but with WeOU, that just takes a single tap on the Reconcile button!

Although figuring out who owed what to whom in this story might have been fairly easy, WeOU can easily handle dozens of parties with hundreds of receipts.
